About

Sixty years
in the field.

Canadian Cutting and Coring has been part of the construction trade in Ontario since 1964. Three generations of crews, the same standard.

60 Year Anniversary, 1964 to 2024

From the President

Mike Charette, President, Canadian Cutting and Coring

Canadian Cutting & Coring was built on a simple idea: do the work properly and stand behind it.

My father founded Canadian Cutting & Coring in 1964. What began with a small crew and a couple of trucks has grown into a company operating across Ontario, but the standard he set has never changed.

Today, our focus remains the same. We invest in our people, our equipment, and how we approach each job. Planning, safety, and execution matter. Much of our work takes place in environments where there is no room for error, and that responsibility is taken seriously at every level of the company.

I’ve been with Canadian Cutting & Coring for over 45 years and remain closely involved in day-to-day operations. Building a strong team continues to be a priority, because the quality of the work comes down to the people behind it.

Our reputation has been built over decades by doing the job right the first time. That’s something we intend to carry forward.

Founded 1964

How it started.

Ron Charette, Founder
The Founder - Ron Charette

Canadian Cutting & Coring was founded by Ron Charette in 1964.

At the time, concrete cutting and coring was still a young trade. Ontario was growing rapidly, with new office towers, industrial facilities, hospitals, and infrastructure projects being built across the province.

Starting with a small crew and a few trucks, Ron built Canadian Cutting & Coring on a reputation for hard work, reliability, and quality workmanship.

Over the decades, the company grew alongside the communities it served. While equipment and technology have evolved, the values Ron established in 1964 continue to guide the company today.

Since 1971

Learning the Trade.

Pat O'Neill, CEO

Pat O'Neill joined Canadian Cutting & Coring in 1971, working alongside founder Ron Charette during the company's early years. Like many operators of that era, he learned the trade in the field, gaining experience through the projects, challenges, and long days that helped build the company.

Over the decades, Pat witnessed the evolution of both the industry and the business itself. What began with diamond saws, core drills, and a small fleet grew into a company serving increasingly complex projects across Ontario. Through hard work, experience, and leadership, Pat progressed through the organization and today serves as Chief Executive Officer.

During that time, the company expanded beyond traditional cutting and drilling services to embrace new technologies and methods. Advances in wire sawing, electric cutting equipment, concrete imaging, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and digital X-ray inspection have transformed the way work is planned and executed, allowing crews to work with greater precision, efficiency, and confidence than ever before.

More than fifty years after joining the company, Pat continues to carry forward the standard established by Ron in 1964: quality workmanship, dependable service, and a commitment to doing the job right.

1970s

Building the trade.

Site work, 1970s

The 1970s were a decade of growth for both Ontario and Canadian Cutting & Coring.

As new buildings, factories, bridges, and infrastructure projects reshaped the province, the company expanded its fleet, its workforce, and its capabilities. What started as a small operation continued to grow through hard work, dependable service, and a willingness to take on challenging projects.

By the end of the decade, Canadian Cutting & Coring had established itself as a trusted name in the industry and was well positioned for the growth that lay ahead.

Concrete Imaging

Leading the Evolution of Concrete Imaging

Canadian Cutting & Coring has played an important role in the development of concrete imaging services in Ontario. Long before digital detectors and advanced imaging software became available, our team was helping contractors, engineers, and project owners see inside concrete structures using radiographic inspection techniques.

Today, we continue that tradition of innovation. Our fleet includes modern digital radiography systems, portable X-ray tubes, and cobalt-60 projectors, allowing us to select the right technology for each project and deliver some of the most advanced concrete imaging services available in Canada.

While the technology has changed dramatically over the years, the goal remains the same: provide the information needed to cut, drill, and build with confidence.

Today

Sixty years on.

Crew on site, today
On the road

From a small operation founded in 1964 to a company serving projects across Ontario, Canadian Cutting & Coring has grown alongside the industry it helped shape.

Our fleet is larger. Our technology is more advanced. Our capabilities have expanded to include modern concrete imaging, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), digital X-ray inspection, and some of the most advanced cutting and coring equipment available today.

Yet the principles that built the company remain unchanged: quality workmanship, dependable service, and taking pride in every job.

The work has evolved. The standard has not.
